The London Sinfonietta and Performing Arts Education at the Royal Festival Hall in collaboration with SOUND intermedia bring you

treeline-online, a web-site that introduces the work of one of Japan's greatest composers TORU TAKEMITSU.

As well as articles, pictures and examples of his music we include information on Japanese Traditional Music and Japanese Gardens.

A large portion of the site has been designed for teachers with a scheme of work for composing and performing for GCSE.

The plan is based around four workshops and backed up with all the resources needed.

You can even follow a practical example of the project as composer Fraser Trainer and players from the London Sinfonietta work with children and teachers in London and Manchester.

The results will be presented here and at the South Bank Centre during Spirit Garden, the first major UK retrospective of Takemitsu's music.

There is also the opportunity for schools to publish the results of their work on this site.

You will also find information on Apple’s Quicktime 3 software and plug-in.

These are also necessary in order to play the musical extracts found within the site.

treeline-online has been made possible thanks to various people and organisations.

Please visit the acknowledgement page to find out more about them and their involvement.
