This section of the site provides a plan of work to initiate musical composition based on the techniques of Pierre Boulez. There are four areas to this part of Boulez-online:
Workshop outlines 1 - 4:
A four stage guide set out in the form of a practical project leading towards producing a substatial composition at the end of the course. Each page has links to resource material found elsewhere in the site, which open in new windows when selected. Materials are also available in the Members area - see below.
London Sinfonietta (L.S.) Practical Sessions 1 - 4:
Here you will find descriptions of the above workshops as carried out by Fraser Trainer and players from the London Sinfonietta with two London Secondary Schools. There are audio examples of the work produced and photographs from the sessions.
Helpfiles:
In addition to the support pages found elsewhere on the site, there are four articles produced by soundintermedia providing details on the internet, recording techniques and music technology.
Members area:
If you are already involved in this project or would like to use the resources, you can sign-up for access to this area. It will bring you into contact with members of the London Sinfonietta and other participants making it possible to discuss and share ideas. You can also download a 'teacher's-pack' of resource notes, workshop outlines and MIDI files. In return we would like you to tell us of your progress with the project and send us a recording of the completed work!
Click here for the aims and intended use of the project.
